SQL Server had, has and will certainly have a lot to offer, but the number one concern of a common developer when it comes to SQL is the management cost involved. This also happens to be the number one reason for why Azure SQL Database is so successful for hardcore developers who don’t want to become accidental DBAs and worry too much about the SQL production workload. The situation however is that the management-less attitude towards SQL Database made most developers miss the tips and tricks SQL Database has to offer and thus make the workload more performant.
